Martin Luther King’s Dream..

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

My Dream….

I have a dream that one day custodians of our tax dollars will respond to questions as to how they have cared for our interests, with the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

 Ronald E. Newton:

There are a specific number of seats in college.  A test called the SAT is a bar test, a rather stupid one.  Your task is to jump over the bar and get into college.  Your next task is to graduate from college.

This offered to those who would deny one their right to free speech.

Seeking Solace:

"Do not offer insincere apologies for your actions; as a military wife I would most graciously not accept them. Because the fact of the matter remains that I support my husband, and every other soldier over there be it by action or prayer…

Leave my yellow ribbon on my vehicle, or it will take the Jaws of Life to remove my foot from your ass."

…yield some big results?

Cascadia Scorecard:

What could be better–you get the benefits of cleaner air, less petroleum, lower CO2 emissions, reduced waste, and support for local businesses, all in one tank.

This in reference to biodiesel fuel and the positive impact it could have on the enviorment.

The reality is the amount of potential fuel that can be produced for an impact based on the current thinking of application is negligible, compared to our need.

I think that biodiesel from waste oil probably has an important niche in the Northwest’s energy system.  But it’s important to keep the scale of the task in mind:  as sexy as the idea may seem, we’re never going to power rush hour with restaurant grease.  And reducing petroleum consumption by more than a token amount will require much bigger and more profound changes in our lifestyles.

How about considering focusing on smaller engines as possible candidates for this fuel technology? The Sea-Doos and boat engines that pollute our lakes and rivers, and lawnmower engines that emit far more pollution into our atmosphere than most people realize.

Starting there could demonstate results that may inspire more people to effect profound changes in their lifestyles, and bring about that larger impact which is needed.

Well thats my thought for the day….now if you will excuse me…. I’m off to work….need to get started on that lawn mower muffler so we can all get some sleep on Saturday (and Sunday) mornings.

Wish us luck…on all fronts.

It wasn’t the purpose of the Vietnam War that caused the withdrawl of American troops…it was the reality of the costs.

It was the media that "pressed" the end of our military involvment in Vietnam. Graphic pictures of the devastation created by man trying to kill man…with dead babies as a by product, just became too much for the American public to stare and bare.

Today, the media we are force fed no longer fufills its responsibility, of enabling Americans to face the facts of the true costs of war. They deprieve us of the information needed to enable us to determine if its costs justify what we are asked to and what we should be willing to pay.

Reality has become "Survior" TV  and "sensationistic""sanitized" "slanted" versions of what really occurs in war does not serve anyone, but those who have the most interest in perpetuating them.

I have offten wondered how quickly the war in Iraq could end, if in addition to sending a million bombs, Americans were to send a million Canons to provide an additional level of defense for the Iraqi people and our soliders. Truth is a powerful weapon.

So where is our "press" ? Its not here

Its here, here and here.

The whole world is watching

 Always Victoria says:

Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name them Work, Family, Health, Friends and Spirit, and you are keeping all of them in the air. You will soon understand that Work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls–Family, Health, Friends and Spirit–are made of glass.
